I’m not in Vancouver, can we still have a counselling session?

Alexandra offers licenced Counselling across British Columbia, Canada. Virtual sessions are available, all you need is an internet connection.


Can I do virtual sessions? What about over the phone?

 

Yes! Virtual video sessions are available from the comfort of your own home.

Other options are telephone or safely distanced, in-person sessions. Your preference out of these options can be discussed during the initial consultation, of course this is a flexible option and can be tailored and adjusted to your needs.


Is what I say in our sessions together confidential?

 

Confidentiality is a cornerstone in Alexandra’s practice. Upon your first session the parameters of confidentiality will be reviewed with you so that you have a clear understanding of what that means when in Counselling.

Alexandra is a member of the BCACC (British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors) and certified through them as an RCC (Registered Clinical Counsellor). RCC certification meets the  standards of the BCACC by going through rigorous academic training with a Master's degree, including extensive supervised clinical experience, a criminal record check and following a clear code of ethics.


How long are counselling sessions and how much do they cost?

 

Initial Consultation | 15-20 min. | Complimentary

The initial consultation is an opportunity to have an unhurried conversation with Alexandra to allow you to make an informed choice and discover if this would be the best therapeutic fit for you in your counselling journey. Initial consultations are typically informal conversations lasting between 15-20 minutes in length over the phone.

Counselling Session | 50 min. | $130

Standard session length. Offering therapy for a diverse range of challenges topics range from anxiety, behaviour, abuse, trauma, loss, family transitions and more.

Counselling Session- Extra Person (s) | 50 min. | $160

Couples, parent and child, any dyad. Therapy topics may cover, relationship difficulties, divorce, separation, conflict, bereavement, family trauma and more.

Clients are encouraged to pay via E-Transfer to fairweathercounsellingco@gmail.com alternatively one can pay by cash or cheque at each appointment unless alternate third party payment has been arranged in advance.


How do I pay for a session?

Does my extended health insurance provide coverage for counselling?

 

Most Extended Health Benefits packages through the workplace will cover the cost of counselling provided by a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Please consult with your workplace Human Resource Department or insurance company. Receipts not submitted for insurance claims may be tax deductible under medical expenses. Please check with your accountant to confirm.


What should I expect from our counselling session?

 

I will work with the you to understand the best approach we should take. You can expect an authentic exchange and conversation, this time is entirely for you. We might cover a range of topics or focus on just one thing. You might notice that some sessions are easier for you than others, this all depends on how much you apply yourself to the work. I am here to guide you, to help you discover your truths and to move forward.


How long do the sessions last for? How frequent are they?

 

Counselling sessions are time that you set aside for yourself. Individual sessions are 50 minutes long. New clients typically book one session per week, you may pre-book multiple sessions in advance to keep a time slot. Each client has different needs, the goal is to develop a working therapeutic relationship that will help you build strategies for thriving and resiliency.


What are your COVID protocols if I choose an in person session?

 

*Due to the health and safety of everyone concerned in person sessions will be suspended until further notice. Thank you for your understanding and doing your part.

Your safety and comfortability is our priority at Fairweather Counselling. If you choose in-person sessions, below is the safety plan, as outlined by health officials:

  • I ask that you use the hand sanitizer outside the door directly before entering the Counselling space.

  • Masks are required if the client needs to use the washroom during the session. The chairs are positioned 2 metres apart.

  • Wearing a face mask during your appointment is acceptable but not required. You may also request that Alexandra wear a face mask as well.


  • All door handles and surfaces will be disinfected after each session.


  • Please do not attend your session in person if you have been ill with symptoms of the virus for 2 weeks or if you have been in contact with someone who has had symptoms to ensure safety of all individuals.


  • Online video counselling is available at your preference.

I understand speaking about a painful or uncomfortable situation is difficult. I am here to listen and create a safe place for you to let go of what is holding you back, I believe that the you are the expert in your own life. Clients can expect a warm, compassionate approach.
